Airport security staff strike disrupts air travel across Germany | Aviation News

The walkout about wages influences Frankfurt, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Duesseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports.

Travellers have confronted flight cancellations throughout Germany as security workers at a number of airports staged an additional 1-working day strike amid a wage dispute.

The walkout arrives on Tuesday just after airlines, which are reeling from soaring fuel rates and airspace closures thanks to the war in Ukraine, experienced to cancel hundreds of flights to and from German airports thanks to strikes previous Monday and Tuesday.

Labour union Verdi named the strike for this Tuesday at Frankfurt, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hanover, Stuttgart, Duesseldorf and Cologne/Bonn airports.

Duesseldorf airport stated airways had cancelled 140 out of about 260 planned flights to and from the western German metropolis for Tuesday.

At Cologne/Bonn, 73 out of 123 flights have been cancelled.

Verdi is demanding that businesses raise the wages of the about 25,000 airport protection workforce in Germany by at minimum a person euro ($1.1) an hour for the following 12 months and that staff members in unique pieces of the region receive the very same.
